Friends Of Londiani Charity Ball

Friends of Londiani are excited to announce the launch of the Kenya Ball 2016! It will take place at Fitzgeralds Vienna Woods Hotel in Glanmire on Saturday October 15th 2016.

Friends of Londiani is an Irish registered charity established in 2002 to help support people in a rural part of Kenya called Londiani which is 220km northwest of Nairobi. Since then our work has spread beyond Londiani to the neighbouring sub-county of Kipkelion with a total combined population of 228,000. Our Irish office is located in Midleton, Co. Cork.

Our aim is to support local communities to improve their quality of life so that they can be better able to become independent and in control of their own futures. We do this through increasing access to health care and information; making sure that children can stay at school for longer; bringing clean water to people to improve their health & sanitation and helping to reduce poverty by increasing household income.

For example – our smokeless stoves programme installed 357 stoves in 2015 – stoves with a chimney as a healthier, more cost effective means of cooking instead of open fires; our Girls for Girls programme addresses the issue of menstrual hygiene and ensures that girls won’t miss a week of school each month due to insanitary conditions at school and lack of sanitary products – this year we will bring to 32 the total number of schools supported in this programme and during 2015 alone we supported the setting up of 4 new Community Units made up of volunteer health workers and covering approximately 1,000 households with health information and healthcare.
