Join Santa this Sat 18 Nov on the Santa Express from Cork to Shine a Light on Christmas & Shopping in Magical Midleton
Santa is boarding the 12.15 train in Cork next Saturday 18th November to music and festive merriment, and you can join Santa and his elves and helpers for the festive journey of music, drama and sweet treats. Tickets are available for this train with Santa direct from the Iarnród Éireann website www.irishrail.ie
‘Tis the Season… and Santa is coming to Midleton to launch Christmas in Midleton, help Tilara and family turn on the Christmas lights and shine a light on Magical Midleton and the importance of shopping local this Christmas. The community is embracing the event and our shops are decking their windows for Midleton & Area Chamber’s annual best-dressed traders competition and we encourage everyone to get involved and join the party.
Midleton Farmers Market traders have come onboard and Santa will arrive there in an impressive Mackay Coaches Magical Midleton Limo bus from the train station to browse the Christmassy market stalls. Entertainment from Leahy’s Open Farm and local musicians will accompany him and a mini market at the Courthouse where children will have the opportunity to join Santa on Mackay’s Coaches Christmas Limo for short tours of the town.
Up and down Midleton, from the Midleton Tourist office at Jameson Distillery to Supervalu, all afternoon there will be music, magic, entertainment, food tastings, hair beading, face painting, crafts demonstrations and plenty of shopping and Christmas cheer. Magical Midleton is an old-fashioned community street party aimed to launch Christmas in a magical way. Sage and the Granary courtyards will be hosting live music and delicious samples of Christmas treats and live music venues have organised music for the afternoon. Drop into the library for story telling or to take part in a colouring competition and the East Cork Journal’s Elfie Competition – to help find the missing Elves. Dress up and get involved – there are lots of great spot prizes to be won and treats for the children thanks to the generosity of local sponsors. Make your own Christmas decorations with Susan at Crafty Hands from 4pm and join in lots. Music from Midleton’s male voice choir, Kiltha Tones and School of Uke will be there too with Leahy’s farm and a DJ to complete the street party.
All the fun of a fair will be at Market Green and the first day of the annual Ballymaloe Craft Fair at nearby Ballymaloe Grainstore will also be open between 10.00 to 18.00 for more festive culinary treats, fun and local area crafts shopping.
This festive day of family fun and magical merriment concludes with Tilara and her family turning on the towns Christmas lights outside Midleton Courthouse. Highlighting that Christmas has arrived and the Christmas shopping season has officially arrived in Midleton & Area.
Midleton’s Best Dressed Children will be announced… Santa’s little helpers will be watching out for the best costumes and shops throughout the day.
Christmas is being officially launched this weekend in Midleton & Area.. Ballymaloe Craft Fair is running both Saturday and Sunday 10am to 6pm. On Sunday Ballyseedy are running a magical customers Christmas shopping event and market between 9am to 6pm.
